Each summer in July and August we collect shoeboxes for the children of Haiti. We deliver these boxes to International Missions Outreach. This organization will deliver the boxes to the children for christmas. This is a wonderful opportunity to share Jesus with a child and be a blessing for those that may not receive a gift for christmas. If you would like to participate in this blessing please follow the instructions below:
1. Find a plastic container the size of an adult shoebox - 6 quart. You can wrap it, lid separately, if you would like. However wrapping is not required.
2. Decide whether your gift will be for a boy or girl and the age category: 3-5, 6-10, 11+. Label the top with the gender and age group. Keep in mind there are never enough boxes for the 11+ children especially boys.
3. Pray for the child that will receive your gift and for Christ to be made known to them.
4. Fill the box with a variety of gifts. Below are a list of examples:
small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, toy instruments, yo-yo's, jump ropes, slinky, water guns, toy jacks, etch-a-sketch, pens, pencils, markers, coloring books, crayons, writing pads, solar calculators, rulers, geometric sets, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap (in zip lock bag), comb, washcloth, hard candy (in a seperate bag - please do not include jolly ranchers because they have a tendency to melt), lollipops, mints, gum, sunglasses, flashlights (with batteries), hats, scarves, hair accessories, socks, t-shirts, watches
Things NOT to include: used items, war related items, liquids or lotions, chocolate or perishable food, breakable items, aerosol cans, figurines with horns or figurines with half human, half animal parts this is extended to things like Batman, Spiderman, Shreck, and anything else that would be associated in those areas. This means coloring books must be free of those characters, as well as any other toys that you may think about putting in there.
5. Please give $5 or more per box to help cover shipping costs. Make checks payable to FCF.
